FUTURES
U5-U6
Futures U5-U6
The U5-U6 Futures Program is an excellent opportunity for those that have potentially never played, or maybe at the Rec level, and want to transition into the base entry-level of the travel program offered at Union FC Indy.
Training
Futures players will learn and develop in a fun, safe, and competitive training environment designed and implemented by professional staff twice each week in the fall and spring seasons (Tuesdays and Thursdays - 6:00 to 6:45 PM). Team training will be once a week during Winter.
Each of our Futures players will have one team training per week during Winter, most weeks. There will be 10 training sessions in total. They will be split out in a few blocks with 2-4 weeks in a row, followed by a short break before the next block.
Games
Futures players will participate in 6 game day events in both the Fall & Spring , called Festival Fridays. They will play their games on Friday’s 6:00-6:45 PM. Teams will be comprised of mixing all Futures players together and creating new teams each week.
For game days, players will play in a different format of 3v3. Fields will also be slightly smaller than those of the normal 4v4 for U5-U8.
The reason for not playing in the normal 4v4 format at this age is to give players more touches on the ball, while placing them in more realistic situations that they will see at the older ages, in large game formats, all over the field.
Included Materials
If a player is a part of either Fall or Spring seasons, they will receive three size 1 soccer balls and a book entitled, Soccer Starts at Home.
Size 1 soccer balls – The purpose of these is to place around the home and enourage engagement at home. These are not to “kick”, but rather dribble to get more touches at home.
Soccer Starts at Home – This book is by Tom Byers, who revolutionized the Japanese Soccer Federation and now works with the Chinese Federation as well. This book is more for the parents, as a resource to help encouragement towards their player and experiences that Tom found throughout his time teaching players all over Japan
*If a player has previously received a book & set of size 1’s, they will not receive it a second time.
