Academy U9-U12

Academy will offer a challenging, developmentally appropriate, training and competition environment. Following the evaluation period, all of the players will be placed in ability-based groups.

Training

• Junior Academy teams will have two team trainings per week during the fall and spring outdoor seasons. 
• Senior Academy teams will have three team trainings per week during the fall and spring outdoor seasons. 
• Our Academy players will have an additional night of training (Advanced Technical Performance) in the form of small-sided skills stations. The focus during these trainings is the individual, not teams. The purpose of these trainings is to help fill the players' technical backpacks, to develop their individual qualities. Primary topics for these stations are (1) passing and possession, (2) outplaying in 1v1, 2v1, 2v2, 3v2, and 3v3 situations, and (3) finishing.
• Union FC Indy Academy players will get two training sessions per week over the winter. 
• Winter training in the Indoor Facility will be station work. This station work will all be done in small groups, and in small-sided exercises and games. The purpose of our winter training station work is to help fill the players’ technical backpacks, to develop their individual qualities. Indoor training will be run by the Academy age-group coaches. The station topics for winter training will be: 
• Passing/Possession | Outplaying (Front/Side/+1 Overload) | Striking a Ball/Finishing | Outplaying (360°) | Transitions 
• Academy players will have a session of futsal on Sunday afternoons/evenings in November, December, January, and February. These futsal sessions are covered by your team fees, so come at no additional cost to you. Our winter futsal sessions are our attempt to provide a free play environment for our players. Sunday futsal over the winter is their time, and their game, with their coaches promoting and encouraging, and affirming positive intent and play! 

League Games

• Junior Academy teams participate in league play in the Central North Conference (CNC). In general, there are 8 league games in the Fall, and 8 league games in the Spring. 
• Senior Academy teams participate in league play in the Indiana Soccer League (ISL). In general, there are 8 league games in the Fall, and 8 league games in the Spring. 

Tournaments

• Junior Academy team fees cover 3 tournaments for Junior Academy teams. 
• Senior Academy team fees cover 5 tournaments for Senior Academy teams.

Additional Foot Skills Training Opportunities

Coach Mo offers his dynamic footskills training in a pay to play scenario through the fall, winter and spring. 

Additionally, to help facilitate players’ ability to develop their technical skills at home, Union FC Indy provides every one if it’s players access to the Techne Futbol App (“the soccer training app designed by pros for the motivated player looking to improve on their own”).
